We have found awesome, honest businessmen & women to take our business to, people of integrity. Never once have we had a bad experience because the people of our church have used them or are them. One time we needed our air conditioner looked at because it quit working. we got Freon for free! Of course being known in the church ourselves helps alot. We had our car worked on by a guy reccomended by the church (not a member) He was awesome & honest. What we do when we need any of the above name workers is check with our church. I think the best thing about my contractor was that he told me upfront I needed to create a budget that was realistic that I could stick too. I was shocked a contractor who cared how much I spent. He helped me decide what we could do with the amount of money I was prepared to spend. He help me decide what could wait until later to be fixed and what we shouldn't wait on based on the order of the things that needed to be done to my home, which was a lot! I think you need to meet with your contractor a few times to be sure he knows what you are expecting. If doesn't understand what you want then it is an obvious no. Also any contractor says this will be the bill and swears there will be no extra charges is a liar. When you remodel a home it is hard to know what to expect because the contractor cannot see behind the walls, under the floor or behind the cabinets. Just be realistic with yourself and your contractor and you should be able to find one to suite your needs.
